“Not marry?” He stared down at her, trying to understand. “Why wouldn’t you marry?”

“I don’t need a man to replace my mother.”

She pulled the hem up a bit higher to keep the cloth from getting wet, her pale thighs visible in the moonlight.

He could just picture those legs wrapped about him. They’d be so smooth and silky.
